Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring immediately for Trailer Inspection Clerks in Oakland, CA

Join our team in a recession-proof industry at a Container Storage Yard. No experience is required for this entry-level position, as we will provide all necessary training.

Starting Rate: $18.50

Shift:

• 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday
• Overtime may be available

Summary/Objective:

The Gate Inspector is responsible for inspecting intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad facility, including checking unit numbers, damage, and completing necessary paperwork.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Maintain accuracy in trailer/container inspections and ensure security seals are intact.
• Document any damage to units with timeliness and accuracy.
• Communicate damage details to supervisors via forms or computer systems.
• Ensure a safe, quality environment free of accidents and injuries.
• Comply with HAZMAT and OSHA regulations, including wearing PPE such as safety vests, boots, and hard hats.
• Familiarize with intermodal units while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.
• Keep the inspection area clean and organized.
• Adhere to company policies and foster positive relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, wind, dust, and fumes.
• Frequent noise levels.
• Potential hazards from moving equipment; must be able to see and hear effectively.

Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to pass a 7-year background check and drug test
• No GED or High School Diploma required

Additional Information:

Applicants must live within a 45-minute commute of the location. Out-of-area candidates or those requiring relocation will not be considered. You will be an employee of Pacific Trailer Repair Services, not the railroad.
