The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Applied Scientist. You will develop and implement state-of-the-art algorithms and models for advanced information retrieval, and tune LLM-based prompting to optimize Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for customer experiences.

As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will play a critical role developing Amazon's foundational Generative AI (Gen AI) technologies that serve our global customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, and scientists to identify and solve complex problems in Gen AI.
2. Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of different algorithms and models, and iterate quickly to improve results.
3. Think big about the arc of development of Gen AI over a multi-year horizon, and identify new opportunities to apply these technologies to solve real-world problems.
4. Communicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including through presentations and written reports.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience.
2. PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
3. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
4. Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience.
2. Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as MxNet and Tensor Flow.
3. Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl.
