Principal – Healthcare Mechanical Engineering

Location: San Francisco, CA | Industry Leader in A/E Design

Are you a senior mechanical engineer with a passion for healthcare design and a vision for leadership? An award-winning design firm is seeking a Principal-level Mechanical Engineer to drive its Healthcare Engineering practice in Northern California.

This is a client-facing leadership role that combines technical excellence with business strategy. You'll help grow the healthcare market presence, shape design standards, and lead high-impact projects that prioritize innovation, sustainability, and integrated design.

What You'll Do:

• Lead mechanical design for hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and medical office buildings
• Build and mentor a growing team of engineers and designers
• Partner with architecture and MEP leaders across the region
• Drive business development and deepen relationships with key healthcare clients
• Oversee design delivery, QA/QC, team resourcing, and financial performance

What You Bring:

• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering (PE required)
• Deep expertise in healthcare MEP systems, codes (NFPA 99, ASHRAE 170, CA Building Code)
• Proven leadership in project delivery, client engagement, and business growth
• Strong understanding of sustainable design in healthcare environments
• Experience with Design-Build, IPD, or Design Assist preferred
• HFDP, LEED AP, or PMP is a plus
