As a Staff Data Scientist in this new division, you will join a team of top-tier data scientists within the product organization to create and scale this new business.

As a ground-floor opportunity for this startup team, we need a Staff Data Scientist to build a top-tier data-informed culture with a focus on AI/ML impact and execution!

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the data leader, balancing urgency with the high quality standards expected by our customers and organization, through clear, repeatable, data-informed approaches.
  2. Partner closely with leadership across all functions, focusing on AI/ML work with Product, Engineering, Design, and Research teams.
  3. Participate in key decision-making processes for AI-first strategies.
  4. Build reliable, efficient, scalable data foundations, tools, and processes for the growth of AI/ML capabilities.
  5. Create a culture of strong technical ownership to ensure highly reliable products and services at scale.
  6. Use data-driven insights to identify impactful opportunities and inform experimentation and product roadmaps.
  7. Conduct deep analytical dives into AI-related user problems, formulate hypotheses, and design & execute experiments with rigor and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Masters' or higher in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • 8+ years of experience leveraging data analysis to influence business decisions, preferably in tech.
  • 3+ years leading AI/ML data initiatives, collaborating with data scientists, engineers, product managers, researchers, and designers.
  • Proven ability to work independently, engage with stakeholders, and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Ability to influence project prioritization affecting customer experience, monetization, and organizational roadmaps.
  • Experience providing insights for early-stage products with small sample sizes, demonstrating direct impact.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other relevant coding languages, with a strong understanding of statistical analysis and experiment design.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior data scientists to enhance team productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in startups.
  • Experience with SaaS search, ranking, AI research, etc.
