ABOUT OUR RETAIL TEAM

Join our dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army! Help us serve and impact our community through the Seaside Thrift Store, supporting the Adult Rehabilitation Program. This role offers an opportunity to enhance customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, contributing to our program's success.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years retail management/supervisory experience
  • Ability to operate POS/Cash Register and supervise store employees
  • Valid Driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Pass background check (criminal and sex offender registry)
  • Effective communication skills with management, staff, customers, and donors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, operate a telephone, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Partner with the Store Manager in daily store operations
  2. Assume responsibility in the Store Manager's absence
  3. Provide coaching, training, and development to staff
  4. Maintain good relations with customers, donors, and the community
  5. Coordinate team meetings during shifts
  6. Supervise employee performance and ensure compliance with directives
  7. Train new personnel on store policies and procedures
  8. Communicate personnel issues to District Sales Manager and handle disciplinary actions as needed
  9. Complete assigned tasks from management and ensure paperwork compliance
  10. Maintain store standards, inventory levels, and timely merchandise processing
  11. Oversee Back Room Processing and donation site operations in absence of Store Manager
  12. Manage cash, safeguard funds, and handle banking procedures
  13. Attend store meetings and assist with safety measures and property protection
  14. May transfer between stores as directed
  15. Implement loss prevention measures
  16. Perform other duties as assigned
