Senior Structural Engineer Transportation

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a transportation Structural Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of transportation structures such as highway, transit, and rail bridges. Experience with inspection and rehabilitation of existing structures is a plus. The successful candidate will assist senior engineers in performing analysis, developing designs, contract drawings, and specifications for various infrastructure and transportation projects. Possible locations in California include Roseville, Fresno, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Los Angeles. This role is full-time, though part-time will be considered. Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Apply knowledge of structural engineering relevant to transportation structures.
  2. Prepare design calculations, drawings, and details for transportation projects.
  3. Design new structures and rehabilitate existing ones.
  4. Review shop drawings, calculations, coordinate with the design team, conduct site visits, respond to RFIs, and oversee testing and monitoring programs.
  5. Coordinate with clients, including public agencies and private clients, on project deliveries, submittals, meetings, and review comments.
  6. Collaborate with other structural staff and departments to complete projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  1. Registered Professional Engineer in California.
  2. Proficient in steel, masonry, timber, and concrete design, including precast and prestressed concrete.
  3. Skilled in structural analysis software such as SAP 2000, CsiBridge, Midas, or similar.
  4. Experience in bridge design calculations and plans per Caltrans Standards.
  5. Understanding of design codes and standards like AASHTO, Caltrans, AREMA, and CBC.
  6. Experience with California High-Speed Rail Projects is a plus.
  7. Attention to detail, accuracy, leadership, and team-building skills are essential.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree; Master's degree highly preferred.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in structural design for bridges and infrastructure, with Caltrans experience.
  3. High-speed rail experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Typical office work involves computer use and sedentary activity. Field work may expose you to weather conditions.

Salary Range

  • Min: SF Area $111,300 / CA Other Areas $97,100
  • Max: SF Area $161,300 / CA Other Areas $140,800

Final compensation depends on education, experience, and location. Some roles are bonus-eligible.
