Responsibilities & Duties
As a VP, FP&A at Redwood Trust, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company can plan for growth, execute on and track performance versus budget, and make informed decisions backed by financial and strategic analysis. You will lead key elements of the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles, and contribute to the preparation of presentations for the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership. You will help Redwood Trust achieve its quarterly, annual, and long-term goals by crafting short and long-term financial/operational reports, analyses, and strategies.
- Build quarterly Board Decks, ad hoc presentations, and partner on strategic projects.
- Oversee the financial planning system (Anaplan).
- Maintain the company's operating model, partner across the organization to provide forward-looking analysis to support business decisions, and analyze capital allocation decisions.
- Oversee and review in-depth analysis, modeling, monthly/quarterly/annual forecasting and reporting of financial and business performance to support company-wide financial and operational goals, initiatives, and objectives.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure linkage between ongoing operational, planning, and strategic activities.
- Collaborate effectively with FP&A team and other internal partners to drive deliverables.
- Perform ad-hoc/deep-dive analysis in support of management decision making.
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close and reporting responsibilities.
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
- Create presentations and reports for business leaders to support their respective lines of business.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field, required
- Master's degree or advanced certification (e.g., CFA or CPA)
- 7-10 years of industry experience with budgeting/planning, financial modeling, and decision analytics (e.g., FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity)
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications. Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is required.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Detail-oriented, self-starter who can effectively lead a team and work closely with senior leaders
- Knowledge of finance concepts and processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis
- Ability to source and work with large amounts of data from different sources
- Ability to work independently and within a team in both tactical and strategic capacities
- Understanding of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes
- Solid analytical and modeling skills
- Ability to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Anaplan or similar cloud-based ERP systems
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and recommend solutions
- High-level analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills to different financial scenarios, with recommendations on outcomes
The estimated total compensation range for this role is $150,000-$196,000. The actual salary will depend on education, location, training, licensure, certification, and other factors.
