Department Overview

The Software Enterprise Sales team within Motorola Solutions provides industry-leading, next-generation Citizen Engagement, Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Public Service 311, and analytics software applications to the Public Safety and Public Service markets. No other company offers the same breadth and depth of technology and experience to deliver end-to-end public safety applications and mission-critical voice and data communications systems.

Job Description

We are seeking a top-performing, technical sales professional who understands how to sell our company's public safety software solutions to prospective customers while developing and maintaining excellent customer relationships. This role involves selling Motorola's CommandCentral Aware situational awareness software to new and existing customers. CommandCentral Aware unifies real-time data and video streams into a common operating picture and helps identify intelligence for quick sharing.

This is a hunter role, focused on capturing new business in large-tier agencies. The role involves working with major cities and counties within the territory to proactively influence projects well in advance of formal initiatives.

Customer relationships are developed through phone contact, personal visits, tradeshows, onsite discovery, software demonstrations, oral presentations, and regional user group meetings. Sales responsibilities are region-specific, with territories sized by the number of customer agencies. Opportunities include on-site presentations, internet demos, and coordination with officials on multi-jurisdictional projects. Knowledge of local government procurement processes is helpful. Travel is moderate to high, with 50-65% time in the field. Top performers are compensated with aggressive commissions upon meeting sales quotas.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of sales/public safety experience or 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in technical sales, software industry, or government sales preferred
  • Experience with public transportation and transit policing is a plus
  • Ability to articulate and sell enterprise software solutions
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and skilled in communication, negotiation, and problem-solving
  • Experience with CRM and sales pipeline management
  • Strong presentation skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Effective time management and opportunity qualification skills
  • Technical aptitude and entrepreneurial attitude are advantageous
  • Ability to work in high-security areas and pass background checks

Compensation & Benefits

The position offers a base salary between $100,000 and $130,000, with additional commission potential. The target salary range is $67,100 - $134,700 USD, depending on experience and skills.
