Advanced Metering Project Engineer

Description:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Engineer who will serve as our primary representative and a self-motivated resource in our rapidly expanding connected infrastructure division. Our team, with a nationwide presence in Master Systems Integration across the federal environment, has opportunities to build and expand an industrial/metering controls department. This position will lead innovative solutions as part of our larger MSI team architecture. Specific responsibilities include:

Conduct site visits and assessments at client facilities to understand energy infrastructure and loads, locate and classify utility meters (electric, gas, water, steam), participate in planning, logistics, and reporting, and maintain communication with stakeholders. Apply knowledge of building systems to review plans, asset inventories, and specifications to assess energy meters' operational status. Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, and installation locations for meters or submeters based on client requests or project needs.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience with building design and management of critical building systems
  • Experience conducting site visits and assessments at client facilities
  • Experience assessing energy infrastructure, including metering systems' condition and vulnerabilities
  • Experience collaborating with customers, trade contractors, inspectors, and service providers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain a basic civilian security clearance
  • 5+ years of related experience

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience with building energy audits or facility assessments
  • Knowledge of environmental, sustainability, and energy efficiency standards and regulations
  • Experience with diverse project types and technologies
  • Experience working with federal agencies like EPA, GSA, or DoD
  • Ability to organize and facilitate technical meetings
  • Effective teamwork and independent work skills
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills

Required Education

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
