About the Position:

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, providing opportunities to learn and perform ranger duties under the guidance of experienced staff. Ranger Aides offer visitor information and assistance, traveling by non-emergency vehicles and on foot within assigned regions. Responsibilities include educating the public about land use regulations, performing routine maintenance, and responding to emergency calls. This role does not have law enforcement authority. Seasonal employees receive a uniform, with employment from early/mid-July through February 2026. For more details, see Job Description.

South Area Office, 240 Cristich Lane, Campbell, CA 95008 (no seasonal housing available).

Requirements:

Ability to learn land regulations, contact and educate the public, administer first aid and CPR, operate power tools and radios, communicate clearly, and perform other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed:

Valid California driver license; CPR and First Aid certificates (training provided if needed).

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; six months customer service experience; parks experience desirable.

Schedules:

Full-time (40 hours/week), including weekends; work hours typically between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. with some flexibility. Must work weekends, holidays, and extended shifts. Seasonal employment up to 950 hours or 7 months, without benefits.

Working Conditions:

Mostly outdoors, in rugged terrain and inclement weather. Ability to patrol on foot and perform emergency and maintenance work. Uniform and safety procedures must be followed.
