Position Summary

Mathnasium of Laurelwood (San Mateo, CA) seeks an exceptional Math Tutor to create engaging and effective learning experiences. The ideal candidate is passionate, dedicated, and possesses excellent interpersonal, mathematical, and instructional skills. This role offers a unique career path focused on community service and student development, with opportunities to enhance professional skills.

Applicants must take a math literacy test to demonstrate proficiency, provide work authorization, and pass a background check. Training in the Mathnasium Method will be provided post-hire. This is a part-time position with flexible hours.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional instruction and tutoring to students.
  2. Engage positively with parents to build confidence and demonstrate program value.
  3. Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
  4. Teach in-center, online, or hybrid sessions using the Mathnasium Method and individualized instruction techniques.
  5. Assess student progress and collaborate with team members to optimize learning outcomes.
  6. Evaluate, grade, and correct student work and homework.
  7. Maintain a clean and professional learning environment.
  8. Assist with non-instructional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • A passion for math and working with students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong math competency through at least Algebra I.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and undergo training.
