Description:

Payments RFP Strategy & Execution Lead

Location: San Francisco, CA

Assignment Type: Contract (6 months, potential for extension)

Worksite: Hybrid

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the buildout and long-term execution of a centralized RFP (Request for Proposal) process within the Payments division of a leading financial institution. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, focusing on process governance, stakeholder collaboration, and RFP lifecycle management.

Additional Notes:

  • This is not a product owner role. The selected candidate will focus on building and maintaining RFP operations rather than owning or managing a specific product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RFP Process Development: Establish and implement a centralized, repeatable RFP process across the Payments organization, including workflow design, template standardization, and governance practices.
  • RFP Management: Coordinate multiple RFPs simultaneously while ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality submissions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a primary liaison for commercial banking sales and treasury management teams; collaborate with internal subject matter experts to curate response content.
  • Content Governance: Develop and maintain a library of approved RFP content; establish a cadence for content reviews to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Performance Reporting: Track and report on key metrics such as turnaround time, win rates, and RFP volumes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimization & Automation: Identify opportunities for process improvement, including automation tools, to streamline the RFP lifecycle and reduce response time.

Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of experience managing complex RFP processes.
  • Strong background in commercial banking, treasury management, or payments operations (ACH, Card, Wire, Check, RTP).
  • Demonstrated experience developing processes from the ground up and managing cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience (7+ years).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in U.S. financial services or banking, with knowledge of payments platforms.
  • Experience in treasury sales, commercial banking, or business banking (not limited to product management).
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory practices related to RFP content and submissions.
