Technical Sales Representative

The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The person hired for the Technical Sales Representative position will work within the aerospace and defense market promoting 3M Advanced Materials products. They will work to generate end use material approvals for 3M Advanced Materials products used primarily in aerospace & defense applications and potentially other market segments. A company car will be provided due to the local travel requirements.

As a 3M Account Executive, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Leading the spec-in activity of 3M Advanced Materials Products with aerospace & defense OEMs and their tier suppliers.
• Implementing action plans to facilitate the generation of end use material approvals of 3M Advanced Materials products.
• Determining the strategies and priorities of aerospace & defense OEMs and providing domestic and global market intelligence to help shape 3M strategies and tactics.
• Supporting the promotion of the Advanced Materials division products both internally to other 3M divisions and externally to customers.
• Being willing to be on-call as needed.

Company Vehicle

This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are hired for this position.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher (verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, and/or defense industry as an Application/Product Development Engineer or Materials Engineer in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Current, valid Driver's License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed include:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university.
• Five (5) years of aerospace experience, primarily in materials engineering.
• Experience working with senior management in large corporations.
• Understanding of Aerospace and/or Defense specification processes.
• Experience in technical support activities with customers.
• Experience in part design, development, and validation.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing circumstances.
• Proven leadership abilities.
• Ability to work with conflicting, delayed, or ambiguous information.

Work Location:

• Remote in California

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel.

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.

Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.

This role may involve access to export-controlled information and technologies, subject to U.S. Export Control Laws and Department of Defense contracts. Candidates will be assessed for U.S. person status and citizenship as part of the hiring process.

Expected compensation range for US applicants is $113,752 - $139,031, including base pay and variable incentives. Benefits are detailed at this link.
