Job Description

Position Summary: The Field Safety Professional will be a key member of the Safety department reporting to the Project Safety Manager. They will work closely with the safety team, project teams, and field personnel. The responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, owner requirements, and company policies/procedures on site, while fostering an injury and accident-free work environment. This position is based at the project site in Sunnyvale, CA, and is a swing/night shift role.

Salary Range

$100,000 - $135,000 annually, depending on experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Observe and correct field safety conditions, conduct safety audits, and coach personnel on safety practices.
  • Engage professionally with all employees to promote safety.
  • Create and maintain an injury-free work environment.
  • Identify and correct hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Train personnel on safety procedures and document training.
  • Conduct safety inspections and document findings.
  • Report safety violations and hazards to supervisors for immediate action.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with safety standards and PPE requirements.
  • Respond to injuries, incidents, or near-misses with appropriate follow-up.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and record keeping.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of construction safety experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Experience in safety observations, interactions, and behavioral interventions.
  • Experience in safety training and contractor orientation.
  • Knowledge of hazard communication and GHS.
  • Hazard recognition skills specific to construction.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • CHST or CSP certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related field.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Good vision, hearing, and speech capabilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical activities with minimal effort.
  • Constant alertness and attention to detail.
  • Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to interpret construction documentation.
