About the Role
MWH is currently seeking a qualified Project Engineer to support critical water treatment plant (WTP) construction projects in the San Francisco, CA area.
Essential Functions
The selected individual will provide technical support to project management and supervision staff to ensure construction work is performed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company policies and engineering standards.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement and management, package development, construction layout, material and equipment procurement, submittal review, manpower scheduling, quantity takeoffs, labor productivity reporting, document controls, material purchases, deliveries, inventory, and project controls.
- Perform ongoing quality inspections; verify all completed work complies with applicable permits, codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare and disseminate documentation such as materials and equipment submittals, status reports, sketches of completed work, material requirement calculations, etc., to supervisors.
- Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction, temporary works, work method statements, change orders, and estimates.
- Prepare and facilitate work method statements, ensuring approvals and permits are obtained before work begins.
- Research and resolve drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, interferences, and errors. Initiate RFIs and follow through to resolution.
- Layout and provide necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
- Establish and implement office procedures related to construction contract administration.
- Implement project controls for document distribution and record keeping.
- Review correspondence, record meeting minutes, process pay applications, review schedules, process RFIs, and produce progress reports.
- Maintain up-to-date project management systems.
- Assist with contractor claims, change orders, and manage related records.
- Assist estimating staff with quantity takeoffs and solicitation of subcontractors and vendors.
- Follow safety guidelines to ensure personal and team safety.
- Resolve construction issues and perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2-3 years of field construction experience.
- Experience on large heavy civil projects.
- Knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, specifications, materials, and standards.
- Ability to work responsibly within a team and communicate effectively.
- Familiarity with project management systems like Primavera, Expedition, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with water/wastewater construction preferred.

Compensation
- The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000 per year, depending on experience.
