Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Security and Emergency Service Division has an opening for a Fire Inspector to join the team.

Role Overview: You will provide fire/life safety services to employees, guests, and users at the main site and off-site leased locations. The Fire Prevention Inspector applies fire protection theories to develop and implement fire prevention programs, minimizing injuries and property damage. You will resolve technical problems of moderate complexity and review situations or data to identify factors.

What You Will Do:

1. Program Implementation and Maintenance: Assist in developing and implementing activities such as building inspections, hot work permit program, fire extinguisher program, and ITM of fire systems under supervision.
2. Building Construction and Fire Protection Systems: Support plan reviews, construction inspections, and commissioning to ensure safety and code compliance.
3. Program Administration: Prepare reports, lead meetings, communicate across teams, and ensure regulatory compliance.
4. Emergency Services: Contribute to emergency response planning, participate in EOC activities, and maintain building pre-plans.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and extensive professional experience; technical certification preferred.
• Knowledge of fire protection planning, systems, inspection, testing, maintenance, permits, training, and response protocols.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to learn policies and procedures related to fire protection.
• Physical activity includes desk work and field inspections, including lifting and working at heights.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with plan reviews, knowledge of California codes, NFPA standards, DOE orders, and standards.

Additional Notes:

• Full-time, 6-month term with potential extension or conversion.
• Salary range: $82,728 - $139,644, with a specific level 1 pay of $93K - $103K.
• Position requires background check; convictions evaluated for relevance.
• Location: Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Berkeley, CA.
