Job Description

Overview: Odyssey Preschool and Montessori, established in 2009, is a well-regarded school located in Foster City, San Mateo County, on the peninsula bay area. We are seeking a Montessori-trained director to start in the upcoming academic year upon the retirement of our current director. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children and possess strong people management skills. The school caters to children aged 18 months to 6 years, with licenses for toddlers and preschoolers, accommodating a total of 142 children.

The candidate must have experience managing a large licensed Montessori school and be knowledgeable about current licensing regulations.

The center director will oversee the overall administration and operations of the center, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Developing and implementing policies and procedures for effective center operation.
2. Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
3. Ensuring a safe and secure environment, including emergency procedures.
4. Delivering high-quality programs.
5. Building positive relationships with parents and encouraging open communication.
6. Managing enrollment processes, including tours, admissions, and record-keeping.
7. Creating a safe and loving school culture for children, teachers, and staff.

Key Requirements

• Montessori certification.
• At least 4 years of experience as a Director or Assistant Director at a Montessori preschool, preferably with a capacity of 75+ children.
• Proven experience mentoring and collaborating with teachers.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of childcare management software, MS Office, and Google Apps; social media and blog experience is a plus.
• Ability to pass background checks and provide proof of immunizations and health criteria.
• Knowledge of California state and educational licensing requirements.
• Additional responsibilities may arise due to regulatory or enrollment changes.

Additional Details

• Job Type: Full-time
• Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 per year
• Benefits include: 401(k), employer contributions to 401(k) and profit sharing, employer-paid dental and vision insurance, health insurance (50% employer-paid), life insurance, paid time off, retirement plan.
