About the role

We, the data science team, are a growing group that works closely with executives and leaders across the company to support the business strategy. As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will use rigorous AI/ML methods to deliver value to our customers and enable data-driven product development. This role is ideal for an individual who is hands-on, autonomous, and capable of driving technical efforts to build robust AI/ML solutions. What You Will Do

1. Define and implement the AI/ML priorities for the Cisco Network Platform data science team in collaboration with product managers, AI architects, designers, user researchers, and engineering partners.
2. Design, explore, and implement sophisticated models and architectures.
3. Understand data schemas and make recommendations for data models, evaluation, and governance processes.
4. Establish best practices for model integration and deployment using CI/CD principles.
5. Evaluate AI model performance through rigorous testing, experimentation, and benchmarking.
6. Resolve complex product and engineering challenges using ingenuity and creativity.
7. Influence architectural decisions focusing on security, scalability, and high performance.
8. Collaborate across teams to define and build features for the product portfolio.
9. Work with managers and teams to set objectives and key results.
10. Supervise and set standards for team members' technical designs and code quality.
11. Mentor team members with technical guidance.

What Skills You Possess

1. 8+ years of industry experience or equivalent academic experience (Masters or PhD).
2. Proficiency in Python or Scala and SQL.
3. Experience designing and implementing large-scale machine learning frameworks and models.
4. Familiarity with data processing and ML libraries such as Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.
5. Experience deploying and monitoring scalable data and ML pipelines.
6. Knowledge of distributed computing engines like Apache Spark and real-time data streaming services like Apache Kafka or Amazon Kinesis.
7. Experience with cloud-based AI/ML infrastructure (AWS preferred).
8. Proficiency with containerization (Docker), orchestration (K8s), and CI/CD frameworks (GitLab).
9. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Bonus Points For

1. Experience with GenAI frameworks like LangChain, Jarvis, Amazon Bedrock, etc.
2. Experience maintaining scalable MLOps platforms and supporting production systems.
3. AI/ML experience in the networking domain.
