AWS Neuron is looking for an experienced Technical Product Manager to define and drive product strategy for the Neuron Kernel Interface (NKI), a compiler library enabling custom kernel development and optimization. You will be part of the AWS Neuron Product Management team, driving innovation in machine learning acceleration software. AWS Neuron is the software stack for Trainium and Inferentia, the AWS Machine Learning chips, delivering best-in-class ML performance in the cloud. You will lead NKI requirements working backward from customer needs, drive kernel library features definition, and drive developer experience for custom kernel development, enabling customers to successfully and independently develop and optimize ML workloads on AWS Neuron through deep understanding of compiler systems, kernel optimization, and hardware acceleration.

The ideal candidate will have solid understanding of compiler technologies, computer architecture, and ML systems. They should be able to assess technical implications of compiler architecture decisions, understand customer needs, and drive developer experience strategy. Experience with ML frameworks, model architectures, and distributed computing is highly valuable.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should have:

1. Proven track record of driving product strategy and owning roadmap definition in complex technical environments
2. Experience delivering features with deep understanding of technical trade-offs and product implications
3. Strong ability to contribute to and influence engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy
4. Demonstrated success in representing customer needs and driving alignment during executive-level prioritization
5. Track record of delivering results in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, particularly in early-stage programs
6. Experience with modern software development and collaborative open-source projects

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

1. Drive and execute product strategy and roadmap working backwards from customer requirements in collaboration with engineering technical leadership
2. Assess technical implications of product architecture and optimization decisions
3. Drive technical alignment across Neuron components, Neuron workflows and dependencies
4. Work directly with software engineering teams to define and execute on new features
5. Produce clear and concise documents such as PRFAQ and PRD documents
6. Write user stories, and validate features meet developer needs
7. Drive feature discussions with customers, engineering, and other stakeholders
8. Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, balancing technical constraints
9. Find opportunities to innovate on behalf of our customers, design features related to these opportunities, and always push to improve our product developer experience
10. Build ecosystem partnerships and stay connected with industry trends
11. Represent the product in relevant industry events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
- 10+ years of industry experience with at least 5+ years in Technical product management and 3+ years of software development
- Solid knowledge in compiler technologies and optimization techniques
- Solid knowledge in computer architecture fundamentals and operating systems concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with CUDA, Triton, and/or Pallas kernel technologies
- Track record of driving developer libraries
- Experience with Machine Learning accelerators
- Experience with concepts such as performance optimization, profiling and tooling
- Experience with Deep Learning model training or inference.
- Experience with distributed computing and parallel processing
- Hands on experience with major ML framework: JAX or PyTorch
- Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure engineering
- Track record of driving open standards and ecosystem integration
