DIR is looking for a dynamic, motivated individual to join the Office of the Director. Under the supervision of the Chief Deputy Director, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) is responsible for providing support to various functions of the Office of the Director, with a focus on project management and research. The AGPA may also participate in special projects to accomplish assignments and achieve departmental objectives.

The position is located in the Junipero Serra Building. The incumbent works 40 hours per week. The position requires the ability for prolonged sitting and to work at a computer for extended periods of time and to move and transport office items in a safe manner.

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Please attach your SOQ to your application. The SOQ is a narrative discussion prepared by the applicant describing how the applicant's skills, knowledge, abilities, education, training, and experience qualify them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Applications received without an SOQ will not be considered. Resumes and cover letters will not be accepted in place of an SOQ. When completing the SOQ, please include specific examples and explain your responses thoroughly. Your SOQ should be no longer than three (3) pages, single spaced with 12 pt. Arial font.

  • Please describe a challenge that you encountered in a professional setting and how you identified and implemented a solution to that challenge.
