Job Description and Duties

This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule. The physical reporting location for this position is close to historic Folsom, eateries, shopping, walking trails, and offers free parking! This position is not located inside of a prison.

Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) of the Inventory Management Unit, the incumbent performs analytical functions for the Inventory Management Unit. Identifies inventory trends and makes projections using actual and historical data to determine appropriate levels of inventory on hand for projected production. Gathers, calculates, and analyzes inventory data from CALPIA manufacturing enterprises in accordance with accounting principles to monitor inventory levels for appropriateness to production plan. Develops, updates, and reconciles inventory-related spreadsheets while ensuring accuracy; e.g., cost roll ups, inventory level comparison reports, earned hours reports, standard cost greater than list price, etc.

  • ACCOUNTING ANALYST

The California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) is a self-supporting state agency that provides productive work opportunities and job skills to incarcerated individuals to reduce recidivism and increase public and prison safety.

Upon a conditional job offer, the selected candidate will be required to clear live scan, a tuberculosis (TB) test, and physical (if applicable). This position is subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing pursuant to 2 CCR ยง 599.960.

Employment information on the STD 678 MUST be complete with hours worked, dates, duties and responsibilities, and contact names and phone numbers of supervisors. Failure to submit a completed STD 678 may result in you being screened out. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview. Please indicate the classification, Job Control Number (JC) and position number in the 'EXAMINATION(S) OR JOB TITLE(S) FOR WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING' section of your application; failure to provide this information may result in elimination from the hiring process. Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience in cost accounting, inventory, GL
  • Experience in financial accounting or Government Accounting
  • Experience in reconciliation work
  • Experience in financial audit and/or year-end Accounting
  • Experience creating or working with financial queries and/or reports
  • Experience analyzing financial data
  • Accounting Certificate and/or College Degree w/Emphasis in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Math
