Mercy Retirement & Care Center, Brown Bag
Do you thrive in an environment where meaningful work happens every day? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of older adults?
At the Mercy Brown Bag Program, "Seniors helping seniors" is at the heart of our mission, supported by Elder Care Alliance's Mercy Retirement and Care Center. For 43 years our volunteers and team members have lovingly filled bags and distributed fresh produce, healthy grains, lean proteins and more.
We sort, pack, and distribute over 122,000 grocery bags to 80 sites throughout Alameda County, reaching more than 9,000 food-insecure older adults. We also run mobile food pantries throughout the county, bringing variety and choice to where older adults live and congregate.
Our Culture of Excellence is built on respect, integrity, and a commitment to the well-being of our recipients and team members. We foster a collaborative and supportive environment where innovation and compassion drive everything we do.
