Amazon is seeking a self-starter and results-oriented individual to join the AWS Energy team that sits within the AWS Infrastructure Services org in pioneering the future for data center utility power by developing and executing the strategy by which AWS delivers energy projects and partners with electric utilities and energy companies across the Southwest (PHX) region of the US. This individual will define the end to end, including generation, transmission, distribution, and backup power strategy, for scaling and operating AWS' diverse, low-cost energy supply. In this role, you will manage multiple, large-scale ((100+ MW)) and technically complex power infrastructure projects across multiple geographies by facilitating close collaboration between both internal and external stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities:
- Bachelor's Degree required in Electrical Engineering with the focus on power and energy field
- 5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry in a project engineering, project management, construction management role
- 2+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role
- 1+ years of experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating contracts with utilities and contractors
- 1+ years of experience collaborating with external stakeholders to deliver projects on-time and on-budget
- Financial/business/commercial experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project/program level education and certification
- The ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, large utility scale projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 34.5 kV or greater energy infrastructure
- Strong Bias for Action with an ability to look around corners and effectively influence without authority.
- Ability to Deliver Results in a constrained and ambiguous environment.
- Experience managing large, utility-scale projects, work with various contractor/ sub-contractor/ vendor/ third-party partners and personnel to deliver on schedule and on budget
