Mercor is looking for people with industry experience in Astronomy. This is for a project with a leading AI research lab. The work will revolve around crafting questions, evaluating model responses, and/or solving problems in your area of expertise. The goal of the project is to improve the model's capabilities in many domains, including yours!

Job requirements

• A PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, or planetary science is required.
• At least 2 years of experience conducting research in astronomy, astrophysics, or a related domain is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with experience modeling celestial phenomena, interpreting observational data, and working with large-scale simulations or instruments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to rigorously evaluate theoretical and empirical findings.
• Experience at a space agency, observatory, or academic institution is a plus.

More details about the role:

• Pay Rate: 55 - 65 USD/hr
• This project is scoped to last a minimum of 2-4 weeks, but may be extended.
• You will be expected to commit 20-40 hours per week. The hours are fully flexible, i.e. you choose when you work!
