Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Accelerator Technology & Applied Physics Division (ATAP) has an opening for a Deputy Director to join the team.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating and developing the design of colliders and large accelerator facilities. This includes work on the Electron Ion Collider Project both directly and through coordination of collaborations. It also includes exploration of future accelerator facilities, including Higgs factories and 10TeV Parton of Mass Energy Frontier colliders, and associated accelerator technologies and test facilities. This work will explore a wide range of basic and applied science in accelerator technologies and how they can be combined to enable future colliders for high energy physics and nuclear physics as well as the interface of collider relevant technologies with nearer term applications.
The Deputy Director for Colliders and Accelerator Facilities will serve as a member of the leadership team of the Division, working closely with ATAP Division management. The focus of the role is building collaborative relationships with other Divisional and Laboratory programs, as well as collaborations outside of LBNL, both domestically and internationally. The Deputy Director will lead teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians and assist in identifying future research opportunities, pursuing new funding, and preparing research proposals. The role also requires working collaboratively with ATAP scientists, engineers, postdocs, technicians, and students, documenting and communicating results of work in peer-reviewed journal publications and oral presentations, and participating in meetings, conferences, and reviews. The individual will serve as a mentor and role model to members of the Division.
