Location: Bay Area, CA (Preferred) or Remote

Company: GoodFin

About GoodFin: GoodFin is reimagining how a new generation builds its wealth, starting with their investments in alternative assets. Our mission is to transform complex financial services into an engaging, easy user experience. Our platform combines a design-forward UI/UX with a backend powered by our proprietary blend of AI, financial, and legal expertise. We believe that AI will revolutionize and democratize financial services traditionally performed by teams at legacy private banks and wealth managers.

We are a rapidly growing seed startup backed by Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital and angel investors from leading companies across tech and finance.

About You: You are a highly motivated, hands-on engineer who thrives on building innovative solutions from the ground up. You have strong conviction in AI's transformative potential in fintech and want to be at the forefront of this revolution. You have high levels of energy and curiosity and seek colleagues who share your passion for innovation!

About the Role: We're looking for a talented engineer to help build our cutting-edge AI wealth technology platform. An ideal candidate has deep expertise in modern AI technologies, including multi-modal Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, and AI agents.

Responsibilities:

  • AI Roadmap Development: Develop and execute an AI roadmap that leverages the latest advancements in multi-modal and finance specific models.

  • End-to-End Feature Delivery: Implement end-to-end AI feature delivery—from technical design and development to testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance.

  • RAG Pipeline Optimization: Optimize our RAG pipeline and hybrid search systems for financial knowledge retrieval.

  • AI Agent Development: Build and manage autonomous AI agents for financial analysis and portfolio management.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our cross-functional team, including design, product, and business units.

  • Stay Current with AI Trends: Stay current with emerging AI trends, including advanced prompting techniques and multi-agent architectures.

  • Innovative Contribution: Contribute innovative ideas for future development.

  • Team Growth: Help to grow our AI/ML team as we scale.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with software engineering and at least one year specifically with modern LLMs (e.g., Claude, GPT-4, Llama 3) OR 3+ years working more generally in AI/ML.

  • Deep understanding of RAG architectures and experience optimizing retrieval pipelines.

  • Experience with multi-modal AI systems (text, numerical data, and structured documents).

  • Expertise in modern prompting techniques (e.g., Tree of Thoughts, Constitutional AI, Agent protocols).

  • Experience building and orchestrating AI agents, particularly with tools like LangChain, AutoGen, or CrewAI.

  • Strong background in function calling and tool use with LLMs.

  • Ability to design and implement robust evaluation frameworks for generative AI systems.

  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.

  • Excellence in technical communication and documentation.

You are likely a good fit if you:

  • Have a strong, intrinsically motivated work ethic and bias for fast shipping.

  • Love unstructured, small startup environments and can thrive under a high degree of ambiguity and autonomy

  • Are equally passionate about coding and high-level system design.

  • Are enthusiastic about the intersection of AI/LLMs and consumer fintech.

  • Want to work in-person in SF the majority of the time or be willing to travel.

Tech Stack:

  • Backend: AWS Lambda with Node.js/TypeScript and Express
  • Frontend: React
