Spring Education Group is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our in-house maintenance team, servicing schools across the Bay Area. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, inspection, and minor repairs of HVAC systems to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards. This role will involve traveling to multiple campuses as needed, based on work requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and servicing equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues, implementing minor repairs to restore functionality.
  • Travel to various school campuses around the Bay Area to address service requests as needed.
  • Ensure all HVAC equipment meets local, state, and federal regulations for safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, including inspection reports, repairs, and parts replaced.
  • Recommend system upgrades, replacements, or preventative measures to enhance performance and extend system life.
  • Communicate with school staff and maintenance teams to coordinate service schedules and address any HVAC-related concerns.
  • Assist with equipment inventory and purchase recommendations.
  • Respond promptly to any urgent repair requests to minimize system downtime.
  • Stay updated on the latest HVAC safety guidelines and best practices.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or training in HVAC systems is preferred.
  • EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Experience in educational or institutional settings is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HVAC diagnostic tools and repair techniques.
  • Ability to use computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Google Sheets, for reporting and record-keeping.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools related to HVAC repairs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy HVAC equipment and tools.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and physically demanding tasks such as climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • The position primarily involves outdoor work and may require extended periods of standing or walking.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation (a truck or van is preferred).
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check compliant with the California State Education Code.

Salary Range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Vehicle Allowance: $500 - $750 per month (must have a reliable truck or van)
