As a Battery Test Technician on the Power Delivery Team you will assist the Battery Test Engineer in conducting thermal propagation and durability tests on electric vehicle batteries, while managing lab equipment, documenting procedures and analyzing test data.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Battery Testing and Analysis:

  • Assist the Battery Test Engineer in conducting performance, thermal propagation and durability tests on electric vehicle batteries and learn best practices for testing and analysis.
  • Apply a growing understanding of electric vehicle battery theory to support the design and execution of comprehensive testing procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies and potential issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure testing aligns with project goals.

Instrumentation, Setup, and Lab Organization:
  • Set up and configure test equipment and instrumentation to ensure accurate and repeatable testing.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain test equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Hands-on experience with specialty tools is required.
  • Organize the lab space and ensure the security and proper management of lab equipment and tools.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Accurately document test procedures, parameters and results.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing test findings, including any deviations from expected outcomes.
  • The position requires frequent travel within the United States, with up to 20% of the work conducted in the field.

Quality Control:
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Identify and address any issues that may impact the validity of test data.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand testing requirements and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing regular updates on test progress and results.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Battery Test Technician or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of electric vehicle battery operation theory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using test equipment such as battery cyclers, hipot testers, data loggers, oscilloscopes, DVOM and battery monitoring systems.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
