JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides coordination of unit-specific equipment as well as general administrative and clerical support. Typical responsibilities include electronic health record/chart management, data collection and entry, forms management, staffing arrangements, clinical orders/test result processing, and inter/intra-departmental communications. Responsible for collaborating with other departments' staff and managers, materials / sterile processing technicians, and other clinical areas in the hospital to assure timely availability of supplies, trays, carts, instrumentation and equipment in good working condition for safe patient care in a unit. This position is responsible for the organization and problem solving in relation to maintenance of such equipment.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
The equivalent of two years' full-time experience performing medical-clerical duties that included patient record management, inpatient admission procedures, data collection and entry, staffing arrangements, clinical order and result processing, and interdepartmental communication/coordination preferably in a critical access or acute care hospital facility.
Preferably one (1) to two (2) years' experience in an inventory or equipment coordination position. Previous experience with equipment and materials tracking software and analysis of data is also desirable.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
* Accurate typing at 35 WPM
* Proficiency in computer operation/windows applications
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Ability to handle and maintain a filing systems accurately
* Ability to handle a large volume of detailed work in a timely manner
* Ability to establish priorities and maintain a calm demeanor while working in an atmosphere of conflicting demands
* Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers and other hospital staff
* Ability to work effectively as a team member and contribute positively towards the goals of the team and the organization
* Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
* Basic Life Support (BLS) with American Heart Association as required by Hospital policy
* . Management of Assaultive Behavior Training (MAB) within 90 days of hire. Maintain annually. (Required for Behavioral Health Department)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL (not modifiable)
* Processes orders, results and performs other data entry/processing via unit-based computer and manual systems
* Maintains departmental manuals and logs, records, filing systems, forms, departmental and selected ancillary charges/credits and reconciliation procedures
* Collects and compiles unit statistical and UR data
* Performs chart management functions including compilation and organization. Copies charts for transfers; ensures a completed/signed and ordered record prior to sending to Medical Records.
* Manages staffing procedures including call off lists, float lists, time off requests, and time and pay records, collaborating with staffing office on work schedules
* Processes inpatient admissions including computer entry, obtaining authorized signatures, patient scheduling, bed assignment and census/accommodation verification
* Provides timely, verbal and written communications within team
* Trouble shoots, monitors and provides simple maintenance for printers, fax and duplicating machines
* Assists visitors, hospital staff and other individuals by answering questions and providing information. Effectively screens and handles telephone calls

The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
