Job Description and Duties
Come join our team at Crystal Lake Hatchery! As a newly hired Fish and Wildlife Seasonal Aid you can expect to fill your days with a variety of tasks that enhance fisheries and fishing opportunities in California. Incumbents will perform daily fish hatchery dutiesthat include feeding fish, cleaning screens, cleaning ponds, picking up dead fish and eggs, maintaining hatchery grounds, and record keeping. Incumbents will also assist technicians with planting fish, spawning, diploid and triploid, egg care as well as caring for all stages of fish development. You should also expect to operate fish pumps, forklifts, tractors, mowers, power tools and fish planting vehicles. You will work with several varieties of rainbow trout, including the California Heritage Eagle Lake trout. Please refer to the Duty Statement for specific duties and functions.
The Fish and Wildlife Seasonal Aid classification is a non-testing classification.

Working Conditions
This position may require occasional day travel. Must wear a prescribed uniform when engaging with the public, conducting fieldwork, in the office and on-site visits. Incumbent will be required to stand for long periods of time in cold water, unheated buildings, and work in extreme weather conditions. Must possess a valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Forklift Certification, and ATV Operator Certification (training provided by CDFW). Willingness to work unusual hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; weekend duties will be required on a rotational basis. State owned housing is not available and is not required as a condition of employment.

Special Requirements
Physical strength and agility; ability to lift 40 pounds; ability to swim 50 yards and stay afloat at least five (5) minutes. Stand for long periods of time and negotiate walking on rough terrain and uneven surfaces.

Desirable Qualifications
