Job Description:

The predominant job function of testing safety showers and eye wash stations, the items he most commonly uses in the course of his workday include a 55-gallon plastic container with handles that is secured to a wheelbase. Empty, it weighs approximately 20 pounds and when up to three-quarters filled with water, weighs approximately 350 pounds. It is lifted empty and pushed with up to 350 pounds of weight, predominantly on an even hard floor surface, but also into and out from elevators and outside on ground surfaces that may be uneven.
The other item commonly handled includes a 5-gallon plastic bucket that can be filled with up to 4 gallons of water for a weight up to approximately 40 pounds.
The primary tool used to test safety showers is a shower funnel on an extension pole. It is used to direct the water from the faucet into the 55-gallon container. Use requires both hands firmly gripping the pole with one arm at and/or above shoulder height, holding/steading it in place to direct the flow.
