Role description

Application Opening: Friday, October 11,2024.

Under general supervision, performs digital printing, mailing, bindery, and delivery production duties. This is a CAT 18 position for 24 months which will provide information needed to evaluate if a permanent position will be needed after this term.

Under general supervision, this position performs general clerical work of ordinary difficulty and related duties as required. Essential functions include alphabetical, numerical, and/or chronological filing; examining, sorting, indexing, coding and reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy; performing a variety of mathematical computations; operating various types of office equipment; processing and distributing interoffice and U.S. mail; responsibility for explaining and carrying out existing methods and procedures relative to office operations; making routine contacts with other departmental employees and the general public in connection with office operations; and gathering, preparing and maintaining a wide variety of records and reports of some complexity.

* Files, maintains and retrieves documents, records, and correspondence per established procedures.

* Checks and reviews a variety of documents for completeness and accuracy.

* Prepares and maintains a variety of reports in which judgment may be exercised in the selection of data and materials.

* Makes mathematical computations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.

* Receives and accounts from the collection of fees and similar sources. No cash handling.

* Disseminate information and answer inquiries by communicating with the public, departmental personnel, and other departments.

* Operates office equipment, Windows 11 PCs and various applications, calculators, photocopying equipment, adding machines, fax machines

* Processes mail: opens, time stamps, sorts, and distributes the incoming mail; stuffs and seals envelopes; makes daily pickup and delivery to ensure timely mailing and receipt of mail, including driving to various City departments; lifts materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

* Check the production work of other team members as part of the quality assurance (QA) procedure.

* Provide customer assistance by answering telephone calls and emails.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

* Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

* Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Experience in printing operations and mailing facility.

* Knowledgeble of reprographics equipment and procedures, with the ability to recommend options to clients.

* Experience with Wide Format printers and postage meters.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM

How to qualify

Experience: One (1) year of clerical experience including preparing and maintaining a variety of records and/or documents, filing, use of office equipment, public contact and processing of incoming and outgoing mail.

Substitution:

Any one of the following may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience:

Completion of a clerical training program (240 hours); OR

15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of coursework from an accredited college or university; OR

Completion of an approved City and County of San Francisco Clerical Administrative training program (as designated on the job announcement).

Compensation Range:?$62,426-$75,868 annually
