JOB SUMMARY

The CASC Ambassador reports to the Director of Reentry Programs and is accountable for acting as a resource, ally, and advisor to participants who access the San Francisco Department of Adult Probation's Community Assessment and Services Center (CASC). The CASC Ambassador will support the routine operation of the CASC by monitoring those entering the facility to ensure the health and safety of all on-site. They will provide participants with meaningful information about the CASC programs and services and assist in de-escalating any potential issues that may arise during the work day.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • De-escalation of potential client conflicts
  • Inspecting the front desk area to maintain security and program compliance
  • Maintaining the CASC Ambassador log according to procedure
  • Performing all duties within the parameters of CASC Policy and Procedures
  • Checking in all participants to program rules and responsibilities of the CASC as they enter the building
  • Ensuring all safety protocols are followed by all entering the building
  • Working with the CASC Manager to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations fairly and equitably for all participants
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and attending to requests for information in a professional manner according to CASC procedure
  • Assisting CASC volunteers and visitors by providing a warm welcoming atmosphere
  • Responding to all participant requests and questions in a professional and courteous manner
  • Immediately report any problems to the CASC Supervisor
  • Overseeing front desk operations, ensuring a safe environment for staff and participants
  • In collaboration with the security staff, ensuring that security policies and measures are consistently implemented and adhered to
  • Under the direction of the Site Management, providing crisis intervention when needed
  • At the end of every shift, ensure paperwork is complete and the workspace is cleaned and organized
  • Encouraging participants to engage in groups, activities, and services
  • Referring participants to CASC Management staff and communicating any concerns or issues related to that participant
  • Attending all staff meetings and training including those that are outside of regular work hours
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Working knowledge and experience of CASC planning and implementation
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases
  • Ability to collaborate, take initiative, and be flexible
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to the mission of the CASC and Five Keys
  • Possess a working knowledge of and sensitivity to individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues such as PTSD, psychosis, borderline behaviors, bipolar, etc.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of social services and mental health resources for low-income adults
  • Ability to maintain professional, respectful, honest interactions with participants, staff, and outside agencies
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and show sensitivity to a diverse participant and staff population
  • Ability to follow oral directions in emergency situations
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or a GED equivalent or currently working toward a diploma is required
  • Prior paid experience working with homeless populations that use harm-reduction models is required
  • Prior work with people dealing with mental health, disabilities, or substance abuse issues is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • To promote the health and safety of its employees, those we serve and our local communities, Five Keys requires that all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and/or adhere to all weekly testing and safety measures. Employees may also request and receive approval for an exemption from this policy. Exemptions are granted to accommodate a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief
  • Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements, when needed
  • Frequent talking and hearing conversations
  • Frequent and prolonged periods of walking, reaching with hands and arms, and sitting at a desk and/or computer station
  • Lifting items that weigh up to 40 lbs, reaching, bending, carrying and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities
  • Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is contingent upon:
  • Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation)
  • Successfully obtaining jail clearance for positions working in county jails or probation locations
  • Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable

  • Commute to multiple sites required
