APR Consulting, Inc. has been engaged to identify a Procedure Scheduler.

Location: Oakland, CA (100% onsite)
Position: Scheduler
Pay Rate: $24.80/hr
Duration: 13 weeks
Number of Openings: 3
Expected Shift: 8 hours Monday to Friday and hours are variable some Saturdays, 0800-1630 or 830-1700

Job Description:
Under the direction of the supervisor of the department, provides general clerical support in a high volume medical imaging center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering phones, operating computers, scheduling appointments, screening patients, giving written and verbal instructions to patients, filing, requesting of prior imaging studies, completing patient registration, completes patient estimates and provides patients with a share of cost.

Conducts insurance eligibility/benefits verification, referral/authorization and informs patient /guarantor of financial responsibility and collects and/or processes patient at the point of services Registers patients, obtains copy of insurance card and processes electronic registration including verification of insurance and/or authorization for requested procedures from insurance, and verification of referrals from physicians.
Provides clerical support to technologists, physicians, supervisors, and leadership. May compile counts or otherwise maintain, collect or sort data for analysis. May assist technologists where appropriate.
Greets patients in person and by phone with appropriate and professional courtesy and accommodating attitude. Coordinates scheduling for various procedures in ultrasound, mammography, x-ray and bone densitometry. Operates telephone console to receive incoming messages, direct caller, and takes messages.
Requests prior imaging studies from referring physicians and medical facilities.
Processes requests for records, reports and imaging cds for patients physicians and/or patient, distributes, mails and/or faxes reports and notices.
Performs variety of clerical tasks, including copying, filing, faxing, typing, and opening mail.
Responds to and resolves patient concerns as far as possible. Refers unsolvable or significant concerns to the supervisor.
By maintaining high standards of excellence, helps the medical center fulfill its mission by providing compassionate care and respecting the dignity of others. Applies principles of "continuous quality improvement" which includes working cooperatively with colleagues and projecting a service orientation toward all.
Participates in department process improvement initiatives
Participates in quarterly and annual compliance, educational and wellness activities
Participates in cross training as required. Participates in staff development.
Maintains cleanliness and order of the patient/visitor waiting area.
Maintains clean working environment.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 6 month of work experience in a radiology department required.
Scheduling experience.
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, discounts and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations."

Preferred Qualifications:
2 years medical receptionist experience, preferably in a radiology setting.
Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology preferred.
Basic computer/keyboard skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work as part of a team.
