In June 2022, San Francisco voters passed a ballot measure that mandated the creation of a Mayor's Office for Victims' Rights (MOVR), also known as the Office of Victim Witness Rights, an independent city department designed to represent the interests of victims of crimes. In May 2024, Mayor London N. Breed officially created MOVR when she appointed its inaugural director. In June 2024, the Board of Supervisors moved the existing Office of Sexual Harassment and Assault Response + Prevention (SHARP) to MOVR, thereby including its work to directly serve sexual assault survivors under the purview of MOVR.

Appointment Type: Permanent Exempt - This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. The duration of the appointment shall not exceed 36 months.
The Violence Prevention Manager reports to the Deputy Director and is part of a small but collaborative and dedicated team that is expected to expand over time. You will contribute to the development and execution of the short-term goals and the long-term objectives of the MOVR.
Duties may include, but are not limited, to the following:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND 4 years of full-time experience managing and executing operational plans, designing, implementing, and/or evaluating violence prevention programs.
Substitution: Qualifying experience performing professional-level administrative duties in functional areas such as program/office/operations management, budget development and/or administration, or contract/grant administration may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
