Under the supervision of the Outdoor Programs Director, this position has direct responsibility for supervising, maintaining, and operating youth and family nature programs. Nature programs include but are not limited to Nature Engagement Afterschool Programming, Community Garden coordination at sites and implementing Y Rangers programming. The Outdoor Programs Coordinator will oversee programs for youth and families under the Outdoor Equity Program (OEP) Grant in both Bayview/Hunters Point and Chinatown neighborhoods. The Outdoor Programs Coordinator will provide direct service to participants in Bayview/Hunters Point and families in Chinatown. The Outdoor Equity Program (OEP) is intended to get marginalized groups (specifically Bayview/Hunters Point & Chinatown neighborhoods) into outdoor spaces through intentional environmental education climate justice curriculum.
Other duties include maintaining and supporting program administration such as collecting attendance and narratives; developing and maintaining quality programming; providing supervision and development of program staff and volunteers; planning, organizing, leading, and supervising outdoor participants. All programs must be administered in a manner consistent with YMCA & OEP goals and policies.
The Outdoor Programs Coordinator will be responsible for Presidio's national Y-USA/NPS Partnership (Y Rangers) and will serve as a liaison between the Presidio YMCA, participating YMCA branches and program participants. Additionally, the Program Coordinator is the primary point of contact for all partners in the NPS/Y Rangers programming, including city, state, and non-profit organizations that are partners of the Y Rangers program offering.
Hours may vary slightly in accordance with the SFUSD calendar, program needs and the needs of the Outdoor Program Director.
