Reporting to the Payroll Director and working in collaboration with cross-functional partners, this position manages a Payroll Department of 20+ through mentoring, leading, and guiding staff in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment. The role is committed to continuous improvement in accuracy, efficiency, and service levels to ensure readiness for growth and the ability to provide superior service. In addition, this position works closely with the Payroll Director to help develop and execute a vision for future processes and systems, including project implementation plans and monitoring & reporting of process improvement initiatives. The role requires expertise in compliance with federal and state laws impacting compensation and tax reporting, as well as knowledge of the terms of various Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) under which some employees may be compensated. This position also provides professional development opportunities for the payroll team and works closely with the Payroll Director in documentation (SOP), implementation, and improvement of payroll policies and procedures. Responsibilities include taking ownership of software systems that support payroll processing and reporting, organizing, assigning, managing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned staff. The role must stay abreast of the latest developments in the legal and union landscape and serve as the subject matter expert on all payroll issues. In partnership with cross-functional teams, the position guides the payroll team toward resolution of compensation issues to ensure compliance with the law while addressing the practicality of proposed solutions and is very hands-on with the Company's payroll objectives and processing.Responsibilities:
