We operate three warehouses in the East Bay which store, distribute and transport frozen and refrigerated food. Our Oakland warehouse is looking for Yard Hostler to add to our team.
Must be hard working and prepared to work in a fast-paced setting. This important position will operate a yard truck to move trailers and containers to/from parking areas to the loading dock.
The yard hostler will:
- Drive yard truck in yard and on the street to transport and spot trailers/containers
- Work in a congested area and back in from a crowded street and yard
- Organize and manage the storage yard
- On occasion, move trailers between warehouse locations and/or make deliveries
- On occasion, help/assist in the maintenance shop with various truck maintenance duties such as changing lights, tires, and minor repairs
- Clean out and/or washout trailers when needed
- Comply with all safety, attendance, operations & training guidelines/programs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements - Minimum one year of experience as a yard hostler.
- Current valid USDOT medical card
- Current valid California (Class A) Commercial Drivers License
- Basic tool and mechanical knowledge
- Flexible schedule with varying start times based on warehouse needs
- Have basic knowledge of Reefer unit and genset functions
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up-to 50 lbs. of force occasionally
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift
- Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold and rain
