Downtown Walnut Creek Ace Hardware opened doors in 2008. Since then, we have quickly positioned ourselves to be the "go-to" hardware store in the area. We strive to be helpful, unique, and try our best to meet the changing needs of our community.
Job Position: Cashier (Full-Time & Part-Time)
The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to maintain helpful customer service and to process the cash sale at the cash registers quickly, with accuracy and efficiency.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Answer phone calls promptly
- Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
- Perform other tasks as assigned by store management
- Solicit customers to open an Ace rewards card
- Ensure proper processing of transactions included, but not limited to: Sales, credits, special orders, screen orders, delivery set up, and ROA
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- Education/Training: high school degree, some college preferred
- Experience in a retail environment either in cashier, sales, or back office
- A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction
- Skills/ Knowledge: Ability to process information and/or merchandise through register system
- Ability to communicate with associates and customers
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS word, and Excel a plus
- Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth
