About the role

As a process technician on the evening shift, you will run one of the companys thin-film deposition tools. On a typical day, you will review experimental plans with the previous shift then execute these plans by performing tool setup, deposition and metrology for process control. You will organize and ensure proper sample transfer from and to other tools. Documenting the experiments in detail and summarizing your work in a written passdown are both essential parts of the role. You will help keep the tool running smoothly and efficiently, which entails managing supply needs, performing some tool-related maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting equipment issues by working closely with the equipment and maintenance teams. While this particular equipment will be your primary responsibility, you may occasionally support the rest of the technician team by running additional tools or preparing samples.


As an early hire, youll help craft the companys culture and technical directions. As the team grows, well expect you to help mentor and set an example for new team members. You will find many opportunities to grow your own skills and capabilities.


You might be a good fit if you...

  • Have 5+ years of experience in the use of vacuum thin-film deposition tools. You follow
  • procedures and you take good care of the equipment you work with
  • Have worked safely and efficiently in a wet lab or semiconductor/R&D/manufacturing
  • environment and have experience handling hazardous chemicals
  • Document your work well, communicate effectively and collaborate smoothly in teams
  • Have experience characterizing thin films and devices
  • Know how to use hand tools and power tools for maintenance work in a lab
  • Are ready to work a 1:30-10pm shift


A strong candidate might bring one or more of the following...

  • Experience developing and optimizing thin-film deposition processes
  • Hands-on experience with fixing various kinds of lab equipment
  • An appreciation for the urgency of the climate change challenge
