Location Job Description Under the direction of the Camp Associate Executive Director, oversight of comprehensive food service operation including staff recruitment and development, menu development and implementation, fiscal management and oversight of food service health and safety. Manage outstanding customer service, monthly inspections, and fiscal responsibility for department. Qualifications

* Minimum of 2 years experience in food service working with large group cafeteria and/or family style service. Management experience strongly preferred.

* Knowledge with product ordering, inventory management, portion control, raw product preparation, facility and fixture maintenance and upkeep, staff hiring, training and supervision.

* Must have San Diego County Health Department Food Safety Certification and Food Services Managers Certification or equivalent.

* Must have high school diploma or GED.

* Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft office computer programs.

* Be nurturing, genuine, hopeful, determined, welcoming, and inclusive.

* Good driving record and able to qualify as a driver for the YMCA of San Diego County.

* Position requires long periods of standing and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

* Demonstrate mature judgment, have positive public relation skills, and have experience in delivering quality customer service.

* Ability to show initiative, be highly organized, and be strongly committed to the mission of the YMCA of San Diego County.

* Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency situation.

* Excellent organizational skills, knowledge and ability to follow any safety and health standards.

* CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.

* Manage all functions of the Food Service Facility department.

* Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of systems to track inventory, food rotation, portion control, waste reduction, recycling and composting, food operating manuals, staffing needs, payroll, ordering supplies and equipment replacement.

* Recruit, interview, hire, train and supervise part time and seasonal diverse staff of 6-15 that reflects our service area. Foster staff motivation, recognition and teamwork.

* Develop a staffing plan that takes into account the fluctuation of numbers of guests and campers being served at different times of the year.

* Mentor, coach and develop staff. Conduct annual performance evaluations of all food service staff. Document monthly staff meetings, focusing on safety, review of established policies and procedures, and customer service.

* Responsible to development and monitor department budget of $420,000 and ensure that re-projections meet year end outcomes.

* Represent camp and support special events, catering, fundraising functions, and rental services as needed including meals, coffee service and snacks.

* Actively involved in the annual support campaign with a total goal to raise at least $1000.

* Encourage vendors to support annual fundraising events with product, resources and funds.

* Recruit, train and supervise all food service volunteers.

* Develop, plan, implement and review a two-week rotating menu with proper regard for nutritional value. Enhance the dining experience with an emphasis on customer service and providing healthy meals.
