Quick Facts:

Must be able to communicate and explain patient treatment plans to patient/guardian. Needs explain coverage based on insurance plans (HMO/PPO) or grant limitations. Must be able to track patient treatment plans to ensure that care is completed. Must be able to manage patient's course of treatment. Is responsible for running reports based of completed treatment plans and recalling patients. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Eisner Health. The employee shall support Eisner Health's strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient's Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and Eisner's initiatives.


Duties Include:

1. Reviews treatment contracts with patients and successfully explains treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner.

2. Contacts insurances and checks for coverage, patients portions, and remaining coverage. Submits and follows up with patients on pending referrals, treatment and procedures.

3. Ensure that any authorizations including but not limited to TARS, preauthorization and NOAs are all up to date

prior to patients' appointment for both General and specialty. Any problems encountered need to be brought to that attention of his/her supervisor.

4. Assist with managing and referral of external specialty.

5. Ships/receives Dental models and records as needed.

6. Ensures integration of referral management activities with other areas of compliance, case

management, and Quality Improvement.

7. Enters all referral activity in referral tracking system (EPM, or EHR), including events, notes, and any relevant information as it relates to the referral

8. Is up to date on billing policies for Denti-Cal, commercial, and private insurances.

9. Complete and Verify Consents, contracts, radiographs and other dental records are up to date and filed accordingly.

10. Follows up on patients that are due for annual/semi-annual dental exams. Confirms and schedules appointment as needed.

11. Runs reports on internal and external programs as requested by supervisor.

12. Review and Maintain dental appointment schedule.

13. Submit & follow up on orthodontic case balances and payments.

14. Must maintain patient confidentiality

15. Other duties as assigned


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in English and Spanish.
  • Dental billing experience, preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in effectively billing for state funded programs such as Denti-Cal/CCS and familiar with HMO/PPO billing.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to multi task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment for the overall success of the team.
  • Must type 45 words per minute and use a 10-Key.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FQHC experience a plus.
