Student Front Desk Assistant

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the DPS Office Assistant, the student assistant's main

responsibility is to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to faculty, staff, and students needing assistance via the Department of Public Safety's front desk. The position also requires the ability to interpret University policies and procedures in order to provide consistently accurate Public Safety services to the University community.

Full Job Description:

* Answer phones, answer emails, and assist patrons with parking permits applications and general parking questions

* Monitor the parking permit website

* Maintain the university lost and found

* Complete assigned project work such as data entry

* Provide administrative support to the Operations Supervisor, Associate Director, and the Director of Public Safety

* Creates and reviews spreadsheets and other documentation using applications such as:

* Microsoft Excel

* Microsoft Word

* Google Docs

Qualifications

* Previous customer service or retail experience

* Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment

* A strong work ethic that is demonstrated, in part, by punctuality, reliability, and being a team player

* The capacity to adapt and work effectively in a dynamic, event-driven environment

* Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills

* Ability to work independently and take initiative when needed to make value-based decisions

* In addition to working scheduled shifts during the school year, candidates should be able to work during the periods in which school is not in session, i.e., spring, summer and winter breaks and during New Student Orientation (at minimum: 4-5 weeks before school starts)

* New Fall Hires must be available to work June - August prior to Fall Orientation

Schedule Preference:

* Must be available to work during breaks and intercession, including but not limited to Summer and Fall breaks

* Must be available to start work as soon as possible

* Must be able to work Fall 2023 New Student Orientations and Move In Weekends

* Must be available to work during school breaks (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer break)*
